Are Israeli Settlements the Barrier to Peace?

Created by PragerU, a Conservative American educational non-profit organization, this video (04:32) challenges the commonly held view that Israel’s policy of building civilian communities in the West Bank is the reason there is no peace agreement with the Palestinians. Although he personally opposes the settlement movement, Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard professor and legal scholar, claims that Israel has the right to a military occupation in the West Bank, according to international law. He argues that the root of the conflict lies in the unwillingness of Palestinian leaders to accept Israel’s right to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people, citing terrorism prior to the settlement movement and increased terrorism following Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from the West Bank.
